Background:
The relationship between the parties was characterised by domestic abuse, perpetrated by the father.
Throughout proceedings, the father showed no insight into the impact of his actions not only on the mother, but on the children as well. Instead, he claimed he was the victim.
When compiling the section 7 report, Cafcass noted the severe lack of insight and understanding. Cafcass subsequently recommended no contact between the children and the father until the father has completed the Domestic Abuse Perpetrators Programme.
The Outcome:
It was ordered that the child would live with the mother and have indirect contact, by way of letters and cards once per month only. There was no order for any direct contact and there won’t be until the father engages in the required change work.
